3 Must-Know Things Before You Book a Branding Photoshoot
Investing in our business can be hard and finding a photographer that will make the most of that investment can be even harder!! Whether you are just starting out and need images for your new website or you are an established business and need a few months’ worth of social media content, first consider the following 3 tips before you choose your photographer and book your branding photoshoot to get the most bang for your buck!!
1. Connection
When booking a branding photoshoot it’s important to choose a photographer you connect with!! Before you book your brand photographer, make sure to schedule a phone or zoom call and ask yourself these questions:
Is their enthusiasm contagious, making you excited to collaborate with them to attract your dream clients?
Can you see them being a literal cheerleader for you and your business?
Are they asking questions about your dream client?
Is your conversation triggering creative ideas to capture what it is like to work with you?
These questions will help you decide for yourself if the connection is there and if that photographer is the one for you!
2. Creative Thinking
Hiring a brand photographer that will be invested in your success and will do the creative research to help you stand out in a crowded market is so important! You will just blend in with everyone else if you have the same type of photos as everyone else. It’s great to have and I would even say necessary to have headshots, and of course, the proverbial “laptop shot” of you working…. but how does that show what you do differently from everyone else?
You need images that show your potential clients what is special about you and what you do! Honestly, that is part of the fun for me… thinking of creative ways to visually capture the difference!!
3. Branding Photoshoot Timeline
It is essential to have a brand photographer that will efficiently plan the time together to ensure a successful session.
You’ve heard the saying “If you fail to plan you are planning to fail”, right? Well … that couldn’t be more true than when you are wanting a gallery of images to specifically help grow your business.
Taking the creative research that you and your brand photographer have put so much time into and turning it into an actionable plan gives you a boost of confidence. You (and your photographer) want to show up on shoot day with a clear plan of action and timeline so nothing is missed!! Whether it’s a new website hero image with empty space for your logo or social media content to really connect with your ideal client, plan to ensure success!!
My clients always tell me that they get so excited for their branding photoshoot after they receive their planning guide. It is a beautifully packaged and practical guide to make sure we are both on the same page. Whether we are shooting a one-hour session or a full-day session … a timeline is a necessity!
I hope these tips helped prepare you for your next branding photoshoot!
And if you’re looking for a photographer who at the core of what they do is to build relationships with their clients as well as do the creative research to help you stand out from the crowd to create visual content of YOUR message, contact me here, I would love to work with you!
