Top Three Tips for a Successful Interior Shoot by a Houston Interior Design Photographer
A successful interior shoot is one that captures your gorgeous projects and meticulously designed spaces through elevated photos highlighting the beauty of the room, the experience it provides clients and guests as well as the story. You want your audience and clients to imagine how it feels to cook in the kitchen you designed or relax in the living room you designed! It’s important that they can imagine moments and memories that are possible within the space youve designed. This is what is possible with interior photography! Interior photography is about telling a story and building an emotional experience! Here are the top three tips from a Houston interior design photographer to help you have a successful interior shoot!
Turn off all overhead lights & lamps!
Lighting is everything and artificial light isn’t always your friend. So you’ll want to turn OFF your lights to get the best lighting! Turn off all of your indoor lightings before your interior design photographer arrives. Artificial lighting creates a yellow-orange glow, and can interfere with the natural light coming through your windows so you want to make sure to keep them off!
Hide all cords, if at all possible!
You know those pesky cords no one entirely likes looking at? We want those hidden! We want the lamps in the photos but we don’t need to see the cord so it’s best to just tuck them away! The same goes for Bluetooth speakers, clocks, etc.
Stand back and look around the room to see if you can see any cords and try to tuck them away and hide them if you can!
Styling Little Moment Vignettes
Keep it simple, you don’t need a lot but envision how your guests might enjoy your rental and interior design project whether a cozy cup of coffee and a muffin or a glass of wine & fruit/cheese tray. If you have a great outdoor area, think of little things that your guests and clients might do in the space (like having an alfresco dinner with friends, etc).
Another great idea is if you leave little gifts for your guests be sure to have that on hand because we definitely want to capture it. Sometimes my clients include small vases of fresh flowers, others don’t – completely your preference! It’s the little touches we are going for and it’s ALL in the details!
